What are the conditions for obtaining Ukrainian citizenship (Lviv)?
In order for a person to be admitted to Ukrainian citizenship, the following conditions must be met simultaneously.
Conditions for admission to Ukrainian citizenship:
– Recognition and observance of the Constitution of Ukraine and the laws of Ukraine;
– knowledge of the fundamentals of the Constitution of Ukraine and the history of Ukraine (confirmed by passing exams on the fundamentals of the Constitution of Ukraine and the history of Ukraine)
– knowledge of the state language;
– continuous legal residence on the territory of Ukraine for the last five years (simplified conditions are established for persons who have been married to a citizen of Ukraine for more than two years);

Procedure for obtaining Ukrainian citizenship
A person who wants to obtain Ukrainian citizenship needs to take several steps:
- collect all the necessary documents;
- apply to the territorial unit of the SMS of Ukraine at the place of residence to submit an application, which must be accompanied by all necessary documents;
- obtain a certificate of registration as a citizen of Ukraine.

As a general rule, such an application and other citizenship documents must be submitted by the applicant in person.
Exception: the application and other citizenship documents may be submitted by another person at the applicant’s request or sent by mail if there are valid reasons (illness of the applicant, natural disaster, etc.).
An application for Ukrainian citizenship submitted by an applicant or other person shall be considered no more than 1 year from the date of its receipt.
A person shall be deemed to have acquired Ukrainian citizenship from the date of the Decree of the President of Ukraine on admission to Ukrainian citizenship.
